Sustainability
What makes Hydroliq so sustainable?
Our vision is to drive the development of sustainable disinfection solutions that are not only effective but also environmentally friendly. We strive to improve the quality of life while protecting the natural environment. We have taken an important first step with our ISO 14001 certification (environmental management). In a continuous improvement process, we are working to sustainably improve our company’s environmental performance. This includes regular reviews and optimisations.
Our principles
- Conservation of resources Through innovative manufacturing processes, we reduce energy consumption and minimize waste.
- Biodegradability Our disinfectant solutions break down into harmless components after use.
- Safe products All products are dermatologically tested and leave no questionable residues.
Resource: Water
Although Switzerland is often referred to as the water castle of Europe, water is a precious commodity that must be protected.
Learn more
Responsible use of water is of central importance in order to ensure the quality and availability of this vital element for future generations. In view of global climate change and increasing environmental pollution, we must consciously take measures to conserve and preserve our water resources. It is therefore our individual and corporate duty to contribute to the protection and sustainable use of this valuable resource.
Production
We only need 1 liter of water to produce 900 ml of Hydroliq disinfectant solution. Conventional disinfectants require up to 4,000 liters of water for 1 liter of disinfectant solution.
The high water consumption of conventional disinfectants is largely due to the ethanol used. Ethanol is usually produced in African countries from maize and rapeseed and consumes vast amounts of water in the process. And this in regions where the water supply is already strained. In addition, land is used for cultivation that is subsequently no longer available for growing food such as cereals and vegetables.
Everyday life
To prevent the formation and spread of biofilms, it is recommended to flush the water pipes regularly. A biofilm is an accumulation of microorganisms such as bacteria that can colonize the inner walls of water pipes. Specifically, the pipes should therefore be flushed for 1-2 minutes every 72 hours to prevent the growth of potentially harmful germs.
However, this time-consuming process can be considerably simplified by using modern technology. A water disinfection system that feeds in our innovative Hydroliq Water Disinfection Plus disinfection solution eliminates the need to manually flush the pipes. This pioneering method ensures continuous and safe disinfection of the water, effectively combating germs and significantly reducing the risk of contamination.
Hydroliq Water Disinfection Plus therefore not only contributes to better water quality, but also offers a convenient and reliable solution to protect your health and reduce water consumption.

Environment
Our environment deserves to be protected and preserved rather than further endangered. We work with great care and commitment to develop and offer solutions that do not harm flora or fauna.

Our aim is to promote sustainable approaches that preserve the natural diversity and beauty of the environment. Through innovative technologies and environmentally friendly practices, we actively contribute to minimizing the ecological footprint and ensuring a future worth living for future generations.
With our commitment to environmentally friendly solutions, we want to make a positive contribution to preserving our planet so that people, animals and plants can live together in harmony. Ingredients Hydroliq disinfectant solutions are made from three components: water, salt and electricity. Water and salt are sourced regionally from Switzerland. The electricity required is purchased as green electricity. This is generated 100 percent from renewable energies. This includes wind power, solar energy, hydropower and biomass. Hazardous substances Most disinfectant solutions available on the market are labeled with various hazard symbols. For example, they can cause serious eye damage/irritation, have a corrosive/irritant effect on the skin or be toxic to aquatic organisms with long-term effects. Conventional disinfectant solutions are considered hazardous goods and must be disposed of properly. Hydroliq products, on the other hand, do not require labeling and are expressly not classified according to GHS. In addition, no personal protective equipment is required when handling our disinfectant solutions, which means that disposable materials such as gloves and face masks are avoided. Certifications We are proud to be certified according to ISO 14001 (environmental management). This certification demonstrates our commitment to environmental protection and sustainable business practices. By complying with the strict requirements of ISO 14001, we ensure that our environmental management systems work effectively and are continuously improved. Resistances For years, experts have been studying so-called resistance, be it antibiotic resistance or virus mutations. In short: germs change due to various factors, such as incorrectly applied disinfectants, and become “immune” to common disinfectants. In medicine, the disinfectants used are therefore replaced at regular intervals in order to prevent the development of resistance as far as possible. The innovative composition of Hydroliq disinfectant solutions virtually eliminates the formation of resistance. Packaging The requirements for the packaging of disinfectants are diverse and must take into account both legal requirements and practical aspects. The packaging should be made of materials that are resistant and impermeable to light. It must be able to withstand the demands of transport and storage and, if possible, be made of recyclable materials to minimize the amount of waste.
Our large packaging is made of cardboard with a PET inner film. Small containers (1l, 2l, 5l, 20l) generally have to withstand higher loads, as they are sold via retailers (stationary or online). The risk of the carton being damaged and liquid leaking out is too great. This is why we have decided to use 100% recyclable PE-HD. Our disinfectant wipes can be soaked in disinfectant solution so that only the wipes need to be bought instead of whole buckets. This saves packaging material.
All our product packaging is therefore 100% recyclable and can be disposed of free of charge at most retail chains (applies to Switzerland only). Marketing materials Sustainability is a central component of our corporate philosophy. We strive to minimize our environmental impact and conserve resources. By using digital technologies and environmentally friendly printing methods, we make a positive contribution to the environment. Marketing materials are provided purely digitally as standard. If a printed version is unavoidable, it will be printed in a climate-neutral way and made available on recycled paper.
